3. Hampta Pass Trek, Himachal Pradesh
This high-altitude trip is a fantastic choice if you’re interested in taking one. You get to experience some of the most breathtaking landscapes along a 35-kilometer stretch that runs from Chatru in the Lahaul & Spiti Valley to Hampta hamlet in the Kullu Valley. The longest day of the trip lasts four to five days, and the highest point is 4,400 metres above sea level.
There is much to discover, including snow-covered slopes, clean streams, lovely meadows, pine and maple forests, the Jwara grasslands, and eventually the desolate areas of Lahaul and Spiti. Do not overlook the overnight camping trip to Chandra Tal. Talk about a fantastic trek!
4. Rupin Pass Trek, Garhwal, Uttarakhand
One of the best destinations for treks in India, It is the Garhwal region, which offers the difficult Rupin Pass Trek, which lasts around 7 days and has a maximum elevation of about 15250 feet. This 52-kilometer trip begins in Dhaula, Uttarakhand, and concludes at Sangla, Shimla, Himachal Pradesh.
This walk is favoured by experienced hikers and is filled with difficulties and spectacular views. It requires travelling through a variety of terrains, including snowy meadows or rocky plains, and passing waterfalls and a hanging hamlet. It is only available to those over the age of 14. 5. Kalindi Khal Expedition
It is known as India’s toughest expedition and requires travelling 99 long kilometres through extremely thin air at a high altitude. Each day of this 15-day walk, the trail puts you through all that high altitude difficulty has to offer, including choppy glaciers, jagged screes, strong winds, and crevassed snowfields.
There are no easy days on this one, so beware! Even while the route may be difficult, it also rewards you with unimpeded views of the most majestic peaks of the Indian Himalayan range, including Shivling at 6,543 metres, Meru at 6,630 metres, Kedar Dome at 6,808 metres, the Bhagirathi group at 6,856 metres, Nilkantha at 6,506 metres, and Chandra Parvat at 6,728 metres.
6. Rajmachi Trek, Maharashtra
Maharashtra is one among several in India that are suitable for novice trekkers. About 15 kilometres separate Lonavala from Rajmachi. The walk takes around a day on average, and the highest point is at a height of 3000 feet above sea level. The base camp for this walk is Udhewadi, and the total distance is 14 kilometres. The forts of Shrivardhan and Manaranjan can be explored, and they provide stunning valley views.
The ideal location is Rajmachi Fort, a Shivaji-built building from the 17th century. As you travel, you pass waterfalls, temples, and historic Buddhist caves on each side of you. There are two ways to do this trek: from Karjat and from Lonavala. There is no need for a guide because the trail is adequately defined.
7. Rupin Pass Trek, Uttarakhand
In search of challenging treking? The 52-kilometer Rupin Pass hike is in the Garhwal region and takes between seven and nine days. The walk begins in Dhauala and concludes in Sangla, Himachal Pradesh. With a maximum elevation of 15,250 feet, the views are nothing short of breathtaking.
